'OASIS' HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE

Everyone wishes his school to be regarded as a great school. Therefore everyone has a duty to try to do what he can to make it great. How should he do this? I say he has four clear duties. They are easy, pleasant and they cannot fail:

Each pupil must regard his school work as his job, take pride in doing it well and co-operate with his teachers in making every lesson a success.

Each must try as hard as he can to get into a team. When he has succeeded in this, he must give his fullest loyalty to the team and try to make it a winning team.

Each must look to the school to provide his social life. He must attend its functions, set himself to enjoy them and try to make them enjoyable for others.

Each must try to make his school fellows his personal friends, have at least a small group to whom he can talk frankly, and with whom he can enjoy out-of-school experiences.

Pupils of Griffith High School have done this well in the past. It is because they have done so that the school ranks as one of the great High Schools of the State.

STUDENT WORK

TRANQUILLITY
By Elide Bastianon (Yr 2C)

Daisies are nodding their heads to and fro;
Spring flowers sweet in the breezes blow;
Cattle rest 'neath the gum trees high,
As clouds float by in an azure sky.

The soft snowy sheep, all newly shorn,
Graze on the grass so green and warm.
Tiny lambs play by their mothers' sides,
As the sun sinks low at eventide.
