Whether these powers are to be used to lighten toil, enrich leisure and restore hope or to deepen fear and bring final destruction, will depend on the raising of the moral sense and political wisdom of the world's peoples. That seems, at first sight, a tremendous task. But split it up into its millions of small parts and every school in every land, every boy and girl, can do something about it.
Yes, I mean you ... and you! For if you use all the opportunities your school offers you, you will not only find the joy in hard work and hard play; you will not only store up the means to live richly as well as earning a living; you will, above all, learn to understand those around you and to co-operate with them.
Millions of young people the world over are doing just that. Together you can smash the barriers that separate. Together - the boys and girls of every race, creed and colour - you can banish war and fear and ignorance from the face of the earth.

GLIMPY GLUMP AND GLIMPY GLEE
By Margaret Sara (Yr 1A)
Glimpy Glump and Glimpy Glee,
Were two strange men as you will see.
They walked in shoes of blues and reds,
And carried soapsuds on their heads.
Their stockings sagged about their legs,
Because they kept them up with pegs.
And when I stopped and said "Good day",
They sneezed, and bowed, and ran away.
