TIME CAPSULE

'OASIS' HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE

First, I want to congratulate both the staff and the pupils of the school on a year of considerable achievement in so many fields, as the reading of the pages to follow will reveal. This has been done in spite of acute shortage of accommodation and amidst the nerve-wracking clatter of jack hammers, cement mixers and the rest - distractions for 1960 but the promise of better things in the coming year, when we hope to occupy the new wing and assembly hall.

Secondly I wish to express the School's gratitude to the Wade Shire Council, the P&C, the Officers of the Department of Agriculture and the W.C & I.C and the business community for the many kindnesses and very real help given to the school through the year. I know that they will feel well rewarded if our boys and girls determine to make the most of the opportunities which these friends of the School help to provide and to maintain and, indeed, enhance the School's traditions and its reputation as one of Griffith's proudest possessions.

STUDENT WORK

THE WIND
By Colleen Anderson (Yr 1A)

The wind whispered in the gum tree's ear,
I must have one of your boughs, I fear.
The gum tree answered, don't you dare!
And the wind sneered as it danced away,
I'll see you again some other day.
