It is a source of constant satisfaction and appreciation to me, that the Staff shoulders this burden so readily and still give so much time and energy to the many tasks that lie outside the bounds of required duty. This must be a considerable contributing factor to the excellent tone that exists in the school - a factor that I gratefully acknowledge.

VIOLENCE IN AMERICA
By Cathie Leeson (Yr 3E1)
Did Sirhan kill the Senator?
Who murdered Martin Luther King?
Is America so strong
As to conquer everything?
Four years ago in Dallas
A President was killed.
All the world was shocked;
And all the world repelled.
Johnson pleads for love and peace
But is it all in vain?
Must a nation all be killed
Before it heeds the pain?
WAR IN VIETNAM
By Ruth Polkinghorne (Yr 5E1)
Homeless children
with hollowed and pathetic eyes -
crying above the relentless sob of gunfire,
not knowing where to turn.
While the bewildered soldier
trudges through the soggy jungle,
seeking what?
Your brother and mine, our country's potential.
Only the comrade, or the enemy
sees the fear in the eyes
that may be forever shut tomorrow,
by this hopeless, senseless war.
